We are pleased to announce an upcoming Peer-to-Peer class!
NAMI Jax is hosting a Peer-to-Peer recovery-focused class for adults who wish to establish and maintain wellness in response to mental health challenges. The course provides critical information and strategies related to living with a mental illness and is taught by a trained team of individuals who have personally experienced living well with mental illness. The class is free of charge. All we ask is that you make a dedicated attempt to attend all 10 classes as each class is important and connects with the rest.
We will meet September 24th thru October 18th on Monday and Thursday nights from 6pm-8pm. The location for the class is Memorial Hospital in the education classrooms. The classroom will vary and be listed on the monitors.
For more information on this course, go to our "NAMI Educational Programs" page.

Nassau County Survivor of Suicide Support Group
A "Survivor of Suicide" Support Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm at the NCCOA Life Center 1901 Island Walkway Fernandina Beach, Florida.
The group is hosted by Mr. Bob Bolan, a survivor of a family member that committed suicide. He has now made it his mission to promote awareness of the need to provide support systems for individuals that may be considering taking their own life and support groups for survivors of suicide.
For more information email email@example.com or call Mr. Bolan at (904) 891-4302.
Please remember if you are feeling overwhelmed by negative emotions, depression, anxiety, and/or considering ending your own life that you may dial 911 or the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-8255. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) provides a help line 1-800-950-6264 Monday-Friday 10 am-6 pm for questions about local support groups and services.
There is no question that suicide rates have dramatically increased in our nation among all ages, races, gender and income classes. Some experts contribute the increased rates to isolation, untreated depression/mental illness, and addiction. For this reason we encourage individuals to reach out to friends/family, church leaders, develop support systems, call the hotline, attend support groups, seek treatment, and most importantly TALK about it.
