Caffeine – Uses In Weight Loss , Dosage and Side-Effects

Who doesn’t like a hot cup of their favourite beverage. Tea and coffee are two of the most consumed beverages all across the world and if you have ever consumed coffee, tea, sodas or chocolates, you have definitely consumed Caffeine at some point in your life.

Caffeine is chemically known as 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine . It is a bitter tasting white powder. It is widely used as an ingredient for weight loss supplements as it may blunt appetite.

Caffeine is a natural plant based neuro-stimulant which is present in many natural raw products like coffee beans, tea leaves, cacao pods just to name a few. It Caffeine also finds its use in sport drinks and is also used as an ingredient in many weight loss supplements including PhenQ, Phen375 and Phen24 .

Caffeine is mainly used to boost mental alertness and it also has plenty of other uses as well. Caffeine is often used simultaneously in combination with painkillers like aspirin and it is also used in treating migraines pain together with an element called ergotamine. It is also often used to treat mild pains and mild headaches.

Some people also believe that consuming Caffeine also helps in curing Asthma, Diseases related to gallbladder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and some other conditions. However, these are just beliefs as there is no scientific evidence yet to back these claims.

Caffeine also increases your body’s urine flow and thus can also be called a “Water Pill”. It has also been found out that the users who use Caffeine while workout are less likely to suffer from Dehydration during their workouts.

    It has been studied that drinking Caffeine containing drinks can lower the risk of Humans developing Type 2 diabetes. It has been found out that, the more these drinks are consumed, lower the risk of developing diabetes.

     However, these caffeine based drinks can only help you control Type 2 diabetes and they are not a cure for the same. There are still no concrete results of the effect of Caffeine Based drinks on people suffering from Type 1 diabetes.

  • Decline in Memory and THinking Powers related with age

    Those women who have reached menopause and consume nearly 175-371 mg of Caffeine everyday were at a lower risk of mental decline when compared to those postmenopausal women who consumed Caffeine less than this amount everyday.

  • Asthma

    Caffeine can be very helpful for patients suffering from Asthma because it can improve the functioning of airways in humans for a duration of up to 4 hours.

  • Preventing Gallstone

    Gallstone is the development of stones in the Gallbladder and this problem is less evident in those people who consume at least 400 mg of Caffeine everyday.

Side Effects Of Caffeine

Using Caffeine might also have some side effects and most common side effects are-

  • Anxiety Issues.

    Caffeine is known to kick start the release of adrenalin in our body and too much of adrenalin can make you anxious and restless. It is advised that people who are suffering from psychiatric problems should try to avoid Caffeine containing products because it might make them more hostile.

  • Insomnia

    Caffeine makes you more alert and when consumed in high amounts, Caffeine can lead to many sleepless hours if not nights because caffeine can stay into your body for a period of 1 hour to upto 9 hours.

  • Hypertension

    Caffeine drinks which have higher concentrations of Caffeine in them might lead to hypertension and dehydration.

  • Overactive Bladder

    Drinking coffee or tea or any drink containing caffeine can make you urinate much more frequently.

  • Heart Conditions

    Caffeine consumption can lead to irregular heartbeats in those who already suffer from heart diseases.

  • Diarrhea

    If you are already suffering from Diarrhea, you should try to avoid Caffeine based drinks, because it might worsen your Diarrhea.

Caffeine Dosage

To avoid getting addicted to Caffeine, it is suggested that one should consume Caffeine in small amounts during the day. Most adults can safely consume upto 400 mg of Caffeine everyday without any major side effects. 

The maximum permissible concentration of Caffeine in urine is upto 15mcg/ml and in order to reach this maximum concentration, one will have to drink about 8 cups of coffee everyday with each cup containing 100mg of coffee to reach this concentration.

However, Caffeine consumption is not recommended  for children below the age of 12 years, women who are pregnant or women who are breastfeeding.
